(N Z Press Association) CANBERRA New South Wales beat New Zealand 4J-11 in, a junior golf match played in overwhelming heat at the Royal Canberra course yesterday
The highlight was a tremendous battle between the Australian Junior champion, V Jell’s, and the New Zealand captain, 1' Pere. They finished all square after 18 holes.
Miss Pere had two early birdies to lead 3 up after six holes, but Miss Jellis struck back with four birdies within seven holes to be 1 up with two holes to plav. Then Miss Pere squared the match at the short seventeenth and the last was halved.
New South Wales led 2J-1> after the morning’s singles and 1 clinched victory when Miss Jel-. Ils, with J. Miles, heat Miss Pere and C. West in the foursomes 3 1 and 2. New Zealand's lone victory came from J. Malcolm, whoj played some splendid golf to beat R. Hughes 3 and 2 Her powerful driving paved the wav for: Miss Malcolm’s convincing win
