Athletes forced to miss meeting

Several of Canterbury's leading athletes will miss the annual Dorrie Leslie Memorial Cup meeting against Wellington on January 27 because of the Wellington centre’s decision to delete nine events.

In all grades, the pole vault, high jump, javelin, and junior shot put have been dropped, forcing the Canterbury’ selectors (Messrs D. W. Mackenzie, V. Briedis and W. Jowett) to omit 16 athletes from their original team.

A strong team has been selected and the trophy seems certain to be retained by Canterbury. The middle distance specialist. D. W. J.
