Cattle-rustling in Surrey

Surrey farmers have been asked to brand their beasts to combat cattle-rustling. ’ During the last few weeks raiders have herded away cattle wortlrimany thousands ’of pounds; in one raid alone 30 heifers were stolen. Surrey’s rustlers are highly organised, and equipped with [cattle trucks to take the anijmals from isolated yards and ! fields. A National Farmers’ Union spokesman said: “With the rising cost of meat, this type 'of incident will increase.”
