MILLER WINS MOTO-CROSS
Competitors in the Atlantic Grandstand moto-cross series rode in extremely hot and dusty conditions at the Wilson’s Farm circuit, Sefton, on Saturday.
Interest centred on the Blenheim rider, I. Miller, aged 23, who has raced with considerable success in Britain
• and Europe during the last I two seasons. ! However, Miller, riding a !400 c.c. works Suzuki, had to! ‘work hard for his over-all i first place after being beaten Iby G. Stapleton in the first! ! race. ! R. Austin riding a machine! jof similar capacity, kept Mil-i |ler in second place until the! Hast lap, when Miller surged I past with a great display of riding skill to win by five, lengths. The most disappointed rider of the day must have [been P. Doecke who struck 'gearbox trouble during practice, when he was consistently turning in lap times a second faster than Miller and Stapleton. In the B grade series, the! only threat to the Paul East-1 erbrook Kawasaki team of P.! Terrace and R. Odering, came! from R. Tait, of Ashburton,; who rode his 250 c.c.
