M. Denton is suspended
(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN. M. P. Denton, the rider of Calmay in the Wilson High-weight at Waikouaiti yesterday, was suspended up to and including January 6. The suspension followed two incidents, one a furlong after the start and the other after seven furlongs. Ribo Star (A. Cowan), the favourite, was checked off - the heels of Calmay after a furlong and Abdi Cat (N. T. Cowles), which was positioned on the inside and about half a length behind Calmay, was observed to lose ground approaching the seven furlongs. Denton was found guilty on both counts of careless riding. Queen Mell ay sustained a severe sprain to the suspensory' ligament in the near foreleg during the Waikouaiti Cup
