$290 given to museum

Two Christ’s College boys, David Burgess, aged 15, and Christopher Gillies, aged 14, have given the $lOO they raised on a sponsored bicycle ride home to Invercargill to the Canterbury Museum’s centennial appeal fund. The boys set out on their bicycles at the end of the school term, and took eight days to complete the trip. Burgess was the leader of the school team that collected for the museum at the recent open day at Christchurch Airport. The museum appeal has also benefited by $lOO, raised by Christ’s College pupils, who adopted the museum as their third term fund-raising project. Acknowledging both gifts, the museum’s director (Dr R. S. Duff) said that they were a fine example of unsolicited initiative that was very encouraging.
