Road toll
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 10.
To noon on Friday 659 traffic deaths this year had been reported to the Ministry of Transport. At this time last year the toll was 612. The toll this month was 15, compared with eight at the same time last December.
Road deaths in the Christchurch metropolitan area this year numbered 43 at midnight on December 7, compared with 32 to the same date last year. This month there has been one road death in the area —the same as for the same period last December.
