for buying
• How much one is prepared to pay. • The size and power of the car which will tow the caravan. • The driver’s ability to control the car and caravan. • The size of the family to use the caravan. The cost, size of family and driver’s ability are matters that the purchaser determines himself. Deciding on the size of the caravan in relation to the size of the car is more difficult. There are several formulae for determining this. They include: • Allowing Ijcwt for each horsepower of the car’s capacity, or • l|cwt for 100 c.c. of the car engine. • The caravan’s weight not to exceed the weight of the car. Buyers should pay attention to the towing unit they will use to pull the caravan.
Not all units behave in the same way. A man should always take his wife along to inspect the range of caravans and get her agreement before he buys. She will have the job of keeping house in it and will not be able to make any complaints afterwards if she has given her approval.
