Towing the caravan
The caravan should know its place and remain behind the car. Modem developments in the motor and motor accessory engineering world make this easy on both the caravan and car. The thoroughly researched and scientifically designed caravan axle of today is reliable strength - wise, safety-wise and endurancewise. It is easy to maintain in first-class condition requiring the minimum of attention. Fixing it to the towbar is a painless, simple operation for which a minimum amount of work and only a few minutes are necessary. One of the newest developments in modern axle assembly is based on rubber torsion bars. Unlike the axle and spring assemblies, all axle movement is encased in the new medium. There is no friction anywhere, and no linkages and other movable parts that can wear out and need replacement. The torsion bars do away with the need for conventional steel springs and all the parts that go with them. Each wheel on the vehicle is virtually individually suspended and absorbs road irregularities independently of the others. Great lateral stability makes for easier and safer towing. The pitch and toss of jouncing springs is eliminated; vibration is considerably reduced and the caravan skims smoothly along any kind of road, better stabilised.
