Subsidies for Sydney
Six approved horses—four pacers and two trotters—competing at the 1973 Inter-Dominion Championship series in Sydney will be eligible for a 9600 subsidy from the Trotting Conference.
The New South Wales Trotting Club is arranging for a special flight carrying 14 horses from New Zealand and it will pay 93600 towards the cost of the flight, said the president of the conference (Mr R. J. Rolfe) yesterday. The subsidy to be paid by the conference will be reducible on a dollar-for-dollar basis by the amount won in stakes in excess of $6OO. The New South Wales club will also pay a subsidy of $lOOO to all approved horses, this amount being reducible on a dollar-for-dollar basis by the amount won in stakes. All horses will receive $lOO starting money in each heat or consolation race, while all starters in the final will receive $lOOO. Officials of the New South Wales club are at present in Christchurch obtaining details of the horses likely to contest the 1973 series.
