Miracle Mile invitations
Globe Bay and Rauka Lad, first and fifth respectively In the New Zealand Cup on Tuesday and Lightsey have been invited to nominate in the <16.500 Stars Travel Miracle Mlle, which will be run on December 2 at Addington Raceway by the New Brighton Trotting Club. The club will start nine horses In the race, which last year was won in Imin 59sec by Arapaho. Three earlier invitations were Issued to Royal Ascot, Robalan, and Royal Belmer. The invitation to Lightsey will probably be considered a surprise by many, but he earned his invitation with a wonderful display of speed when fifth in the Canterbury Free-for-all on Tuesday. He lost ground early, and although forced wide over the last half-mile, he was privately timed to pace his final 12 furlongs in 3mln 2 3-ssec, with his last mile in a shade worse than 2min.
