Emergency ended
(N.Z.f. A. -Reuter—Copyright) SANTIAGO, Nov. 6.
The Chilean Government tonight lifted a state of emergency imposed more than three weeks ago to counter the effects of a “bosses’ strike” against the Government of the Marxist President (Mr Salvador Allende). The move followed last night’s agreement to end the strike and an apparent return to normal work throughout the country today. Twenty-one of Chile’s 25 provinces which have been under a modified form of martial law were returned to civil rule. Soldiers who have been supporting the police began to return to barracks.
