CAVE TO BE EXPLORED

Rare disease suspected

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) SYDNEY, Oct. 18. Two youths suspected of having contracted a rare lung disease after exploring a batinfested cave near Yass, 180 miles south-west of Sydney, will go back to the cave with a medical team tomorrow. The clinical superintendent of Royal North Shore Hospital said at a press conference today that the youths and medical party would wear protective clothing and masks to explore the cave, record its temperature and humidity, and collect cultural organisms. The youths were among six who went to the cave eight weeks ago. Some of them have already shown signs of the disease, histoplasmosis, an infection caused by a fungus growth on the lungs.
