Thefts of R.T. sets

A radio-telephone was stolen from an unlocked truck in Christchurch last night, making a total of 29 radio-telephones stolen in the last six weeks. In the latest offence an Electra radio worth $5O was taken from an unlocked truck parked outside a Guthreys Freightways, Ltd, yard in Hawdon Street, Sydenham.

The acting head of the Christchurch C. 1.8. (Detective Inspector J. W. Wooders) said that though there were no positive leads to the whereabouts of the radios or the offenders taking them, because of the large number involved and their value it was thought that the offenders had a source of disposal. This might be outside Christchurch, said Mr Wooders. Six radios similar to those stolen in Christchurch have been reported stolen in Auckland recently.
