Tax dispute
The Minister of Local Government (Mr Highet) had told him that the rural counties were on the right track
in their opposition to the petroleum tax allocation in the Christchurch district, said the chairman (Mr W. E. Walker) at a meeting of the Ellesmere County Council yesterday. The Minister also said that it would not be fair to approve the allocation method by way of retrospective legislation.
