Inner Wheel conference
“Friendship through service” is the theme of the conference of the Inner Wheel Clubs of New Zealand which will be held in Christchurch next Monday and Tuesday. Clubs in Napier, Taumarunui, New Plymouth, Turangi, Tauranga, Blenheim, Oamaru, Dunedin, and Christchurch w”! be represented There will be 130 delegates attending. Inner Wheel is the organisation of Rotary wives and their districts are the same as the Rotary districts. The host for this conference, the third in New Zealand, is the South Island district 298. This district incorporates the five Christchurch clubs, Christchurch East, Christchurch South, Belfast, Riccarton and Hornby.
The conference will be opened on Monday evening by the Mayoress of Christchurch (Mrs Alexia Pickering). Speakers at the opening will be Dr Margaret Smith, president of the Christchurch branch of the National Council of Women, and Father John Coleman.
