INVITATION TO BALLET
A Wellington choreographer, Leigh Brewer, has been invited by the Perfecture of the ’province of Hyogo, Japan, to choreograph an indigenous ballet for presentation at Hyogo’s annual autumn festival in Kobe next month. It is the first time that a European has been invited to produce a ballet at the festival. The invitation to Miss Brewer is a result of her work for the New Zealand Government at Expo 70 in Osaka. Her ballets, particularly “Green Are the Islands,” attracted widespread attention in Japan. Earlier this year Miss Brewer returned to Japan with her husband (Mr Trevor Mann), who has established a success new business venture based in Osaka. With their two children, they live near Osaka.
