Play for children
The Canterbury Children’s Theatre is on the boards again for the school holidays, with a production of "The Tinder Box,” a play about witchcraft and magic dogs, directed by Doreen Herbert.
The play will open on Friday night in the Repertory Theatre, and will run until September 2, with week-day performances at 6.30 p.m., Saturday shows at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m., and a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. “The Tinder Box,” a perennial favourite for its music, dancing, and displays of magic, has been produced twice previously in the last 20 years by the Canterbury Children’s Theatre — in 1952, and about 1960.
Familiar faces occupy the main roles — Jeanne Edgar as the Witch, Anne Moore as the Princess, and Robin Queree as Peter. lan Beswick and Alfred Taylor play the Witch’s Slaves, two comic characters.
