Top skier wins both races

The New Zeeland ski cham- ; pion, R. E wington. won both giant slaloms ana the combined aggregate at the Porter Heights trophy meeting on Sunday. In both races, he narrowly recorded a faster time than the winter Olympic competitor, C. Wolmsley. The races were the climax to a week-long training camp for the New Zealand Ski Association’s A and junior squads. No events could be held on Saturday. but there was a solid base of snow for Sunday’s races. Third place went to W. Gardiner, a North Canterbury farmer, who beat R. Armstrong, a member of the national team, into fourth place. The New Zealand team leaves for Australia on Wednesday.
