SELECTIVE SUPPORT ON EASY NEW ZEALAND MARKET

The New Zealand share market drifted lower in mixed and moderately active trading yesterday. Some sections were quite well supported but even they failed to show any significant advance as shares in them were traded at close to recent prices.

The television manufacturers were an exception, however, and Autocrat gained 3c to 195 c. Pye continued to move up with a rise of 5c to 112 c after its colour television manufacturing plans were announced. The building and allied group found support. Alex Harvey was 1c higher, at 386 c, Firth gained 2c at 180 c and Golden Bay Cement recovered 1c at 117 c.

Waitaki improved on last week’s rise of 8c with sales 1c higher at 131 c. Ballins and Dominion Breweries were close to recent prices with rises of 1c each.

C.S.I. recovered 2c to 127 c in the steady finance reaction. The automotive companies weakened. Manthel lost 5c at 185 c, Motor Specs was 3c lower at 131 c and Repco N.Z. eased 2c to 116 c. Andrews and Beaven added a 3c fall to last week’s 2c loss with sales at 103 c. With the exception of

Woolworths, N.Z., which rose 2c to 85c, the retailers edged lower.

Wilson Neill slumped 11c to 187 c in a reaction to the terms of the cash issue announced on Friday.
