‘Mrs Malvern selected

A Hororata farmer’s wife, 1 Mrs Janet Lilley, has won the “Mrs Malvern” title in the Plunket Society-G.H.B. “Mrs Zealand” contest, held recently at Darfield. Mrs Lilley has four children, and her interests include farm and home, spinning, knitting, music and choir, and she also teaches scripture at the school.

Second in the contest was Mrs Hazel Hight, of Hororata, and Mrs Heather Taege, of Springfield, was third. There were 24 entries in the contest, which was judged by Mesdames M. Clarke and M. J. Owens and Mr B. Frankland, and compered by Mr J. Blumsky. Mrs Lilley will go forward to the Canterbury final, to be held in Ashburton on August 8 and 9.
