The Aborigines’ plight

Sir, —Not long ago Mr Skinner returned to New Zealand with promises of Australian union support of his plan to wreck the proposed Springbok tour of this country. Prompted by last night’s revealing, not to say shocking, documentary on the plight of many Australian Aborigines I would ask you if you can obtain from Mr Skinner a statement on the steps the Australian unionists are taking to alleviate the wretched lot of their fellow nationals.—Yours, etc., INTERESTED. May 26, 1972. [The Federation of Labour was invited to comment. No reply has been received.]
