Amphibian bought

(N.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL, July 17. Arrangements for the delivery of a Grumman Super Goose amphibian aircraft from the United States had been completed, said Mr W. D. Davies, of Mount Cook Airlines, tonight. The aircraft, formerly used by the United State’s Coast Guard, has been rebuilt and fitted with retractable floats. Carrying 11 passengers, it will be used from Mechanics Bay, Auckland, mainly in the Bay of Islands service. The aircraft, which cost about $150,000, will be ferried to New Zealand to arrive about mid-September.
