Burglar gaoled

Samuel Rangi Repia, aged 52, a potato picker, was imprisoned for three years when he appeared before Mr Justice Wilson in the Supreme Court yesterday for sentence on two charges of burglary. Mr N. W. Williamson appeared for the Crown and Mr E. T. Higgins for the prisoner. Repia pleaded guilty to the two charges in the Magistrate’s Court and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. His Honour said that although the prisoner had been making efforts to establish himself in an acceptable mode of living and his problem was to some extent a medical one, he could not be allowed to remain in the community while he indulged in anti-social activity.
