On trial for Riccarton
"The Press" Special Service WELLINGTON. Gun Is on trial for the Grand National Steeplechase in Saturday’s Manawatu Hunt Cup. Gun won the Marirl Steeplechase on the first day of the Wellington meeting and encouraged his owners to contemplate a trip to Riccarton. G. Walters, who rode Gun at Trentham, will ride him in the Manawatu Hunt Cup and depending on how Gun races, will decide about his Grand National ride. “I know the Grand National is a lot different from a hack steeplechase at Trentham, but we’ll see how he goes on Saturday," Walters said.
