EXCHANGE RATES
Dollar mixed but firm
The Ne-v Zealand dollar was firmer last week; the exchange rate strengthened against Japan, the Netherlands, Italy and Belgium, amongst others. It was unchanged on Swiss francs and Deutschmarks. However, it lost a little ground against the Canadian dollar, French currencies with the exception of commercial francs, sterling and some of the minor currencies aligned to sterling. The foreign exchange markets were more stable during the week; the only currency not quoted at present is the Indian rupee. Demand selling rates of exchange on Friday, on the basis to SNZI.OO, as advised by the National Bank of New Zealand, were:—
