Salmon management
Sir, —We, the undersigned, members of the New Zealand Salmon Anglers’ Association, do not necessarily agree with the opinions expressed by Mr C. J. Hardy in his article published in Saturday morning’s issue.—Yours, etc., J. R. GALLOWAY, R. H. DOUGHERTY, S. J. WING, S. P. HAWKE. July 3, 1972.
Sir, —Mr Hardy’s article covered a lot of ground but did little to explain what is being done now to keep our salmon fishing going. As an obvious supporter of the Acclimatisation Society movement, could he please state the present policy of the South Island Salmon Committee, and what its past achievements have been? I still find the fish too few and hard to catch.—Yours, etc., S.R.I. July 3, 1972.
