The Budget

Sir, —I see now that Mr Muldoon over-taxed us intentionally so that he could be generous with our money for the forthcoming election. How nice! In the Budget not one move has been made to reform the financial policy to ensure a reduction of interest, debts, and prices. It has set the stage for a rapid increase in price inflation next year with consequential reduction in the buying power of the dollar. The Government has made no attempt to assist local bodies to find finance without creating a rapid escalation of debts and increased rates. Until the public demand a complete overhaul and reform of the financial policy which will reduce prices, taxes, and debts, will anyone receive any long-term benefits, other than the financiers?—Yours, FLEMING ROSS MILLER. July 1, 1972.
