Victory to \ Canterbury With second-round singles matches to be played there was only one game between Canterbury and the challengers, Ashburton. in the A. S. Patterson Trophy indoor bowls fixture at the Canterbury Indoor Bowls Association’s Kearney's Road hall on Saturday. Canterbury eventually won by 33 games to 23. The score at the end of the first round had been 15-13 to Canterbury. But Canterbun.’ showed its singles strength, winning six of the eight second round games. One of the remaining two matches was a terrific struggle between R. Dalgety (Ashburton) and D. Marshall (Canterbury), Dalgety winning 5-4, on the ninth end.
The first round, the fours, were halved one each, the three pairs were won by Ashburton, but in the singles, Canterbury won five to Ashburton’s two with H. Hunt (Ashburton) and A. E. Williamson (Canterbury) drawing 7-all.
This put the challengers only one game down, and so it remained, with the second round fours and pairs halved. Results with Canterbury names first were:—

Pairs.—First round: Austin 7, Keith 10; L. Bellis 7. D. Smith 9; McLennan 12, McTague 5; A. E, Williamson 8, H. Hunt 9. Second round: Austin 6, McTague 9; Bellis 10, Hunt 9; McLennan 11, Keith 4; Williamson 6, Smith 9.
Fours.—First round: T. N. Austin 9, G. A. Keith 5; L. G. McLennan 6, R. H. McTague 10. Second round: Austin 8, McTague 11; McLennan 9, Keith 7.
