South Canterbury was promoted from B grade at the beginning of the season. Result* from the tournament were:— _ . Friday.—Otago 59, Southland 41; Nelson 61, South Canterbury 46; Southland 71. Canterbury 35. Saturday. — Canterbury 63, South Canterbury 55; Otago 65. Nelson 51; Southland 65 South Canterbury 38; Nelson 72. Can terbury 42; Southland 64. Nelson 61; Otego 81. Canterbury 33.
