R Livingston (Auckland), in the final of the Austin men’s single* tournament on Saturday night it waa a '•piendid win b> Compton, for he had to make » dramatic recovery after trailing 11-14 in the final set He levelled the match at 14-14, and as Livingston faltered under the pressure, won three successive points after setting for the match.
Results:— Men’s open —Semi-finals J. Compton (Wellington' beat B R Purser (Auckland), 15-10. 15-13; R. Livingston (Auckland) beat P Shirley (Hawke's Bay). 15 2. 15-4. Final: Compton beat Livingston, 15 10, 7-15. 17-14
Women’s open — Semi-finals: Mrs A. Branfield (Auckland) beat Miss F Walters (Auckland). 12-H, 11-1: Miss R. Glenie (Aucklandbeat Miss C Olson (Auckland 11-4. 11-0. Final. Mrs Branfield beat Miss Glenie. 114. 11-6.
