FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT Situation.—A complex trough of low pressure is moving east over the North Island and a west to south-west airflow is spreading on to the country. Forecast:
Buller and Westand.—Moderate to fresh south-west winds; scattered showers and long fine periods; rain may develop later today; cool. Nelson.—Moderate to fresh southwesterlies ; fine and cool. Marlborough.—South-west winds, decreasing and becoming variable by afternoon; north-westerlies probably developing in Cook Strait late in the day; fine, with temperatures becoming moderate. Canterbury.—Winds mainly moderate and variable, although north-westeriies may freshen inland during the day; mainly fine, but showers developing about the Alps in the afternoon; moderate temperatures. ' Outlook.—Showers in the west, mainly fair elsewhere.
