Betting up on circuit
With an off-course turnover ot more than Sim and an over-all betting increase of more than 8280,000 the recent MarlboroughNelson racing circuit was an outstanding success.The total off-course turnover on the five-day circuit—three at Marlborough and two at Nelson —was $1,018,770, a rise of $273,993 on last season. At the Marlborough meeting the off-course total of $1590,099 was a rise of $221,664. and at Nelson the total of $328,671 was up $52,329. The on-course betting at Blenheim was up on the first and third days but down on the second day. The total of $191,887 was an increase of $4144. At Nelson the on-course turnover decreased by $2559 on the first day and $2193 on the second, a total of $4752. The total on-course was $122,190.
