BOWLERS’ MOVE

(N.Z. Press Association) GISBORNE, April 18. The Gisborne-East Coast Bowling Centre, which has 600 members in nine clubs, will advise the New Zealand Bowling Association that th® centre urges it to act on behalf of all bowlers in New Zealand to support the tour of the Springboks. A resolution to this effect was submitted to the centre executive at its April meeting and was supported by delegates after it had been referred back to their clubs by delegates for approval or otherwise.

The president of the centre, Mr E. R. Williams, in a statement said that the intention of making the submission to the New Zealand association was to show that bowlers as sportsmen deplored politics being introduced to sport and that they felt that all sportsmen should support sporting contacts with overseas teams, irrespective of the politics df the country concerned. < The centre has a predominance of Maori members in the three clubs on the east coast.
