Stakes up at Waimate

The Waimate Racing Club has Increased stakes by $1215 for its annual race meeting in May. They will total $10,140, Including a gold cup worth $245.

The cup will be for the owner of the winner of the Waltakl Gold Cup, a race for hack Stayers now worth $1745. The trophy has been given by Mr A. G. Wigley, vice-president of the club. The Waltakl Gold Cup is the South Island’s richest race for haek stayers on a provincial course.

The Waimate Cup this year will be worth $2500, an Increase of $4OO on last year. Increases have been also made for all other races on the programme.
