Bread prices

Sir,—Today I bought a loaf of sandwich sliced bread. The weight marker on it is lib Boz. Other sandwich loaves purchased at the same price from the same shop have been stamped Ijlb. Also. I notice the lib sliced loaves are the same price as the Iflb loaf. Could someone please explain?—Yours, etc., I’VE BEEN DONE. February 23, 1972.

. [Mr C. S. Scott, executive member of the South Island Bread Manufacturers’ Association. replies: “My answer to the correspondent’s letter is that lib Boz is the correct weight permitted under the Weights and Measures Regulations for a special sliced sandwich loaf. A loaf of IJlb is overweight. The difference in cost between the lib sliced loaf and the 1 Jib loaf may be due to the higher cost of the ingredients. Al] bread is now subject to some form of Government price control.”]
