(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, March 7. Two brothers were fined $3OO each in the Magisti ate’s Court, Wellington, yesterday for conspiring to defraud the public and for sending out false statements to business houses throughout New Zealand.
The accused, both Australians, were Peter Alexander Dean Smith, aged 23, and David Alistair Dean Smith, aged 25, both salesmen.
They pleaded guilty last week. It was charged that trading as McGrath Office Supplies, they had falsely represented having sent goods to various persons throughout New Zealand, and conspired to defraud the public. The Magistrate, Mr D. B. Wilson, issued a warrant for immediate payment of the fines, adding that there would be a recommendation for the deportation of the two accused.
