Aust, downpour
The wettest beginning to March for 62 years has completely isolated the Australian “dead centre” town of Alice Springs. Four inches of rain in 24 hours over the week-end has cut all road services and the single-rail service to it. The downpour gave Alice Springs a total of 723 points of rain in four days — and its average annual rainfall is only 960 points. — Alice Springs, March 7.
