“Anakiwa best”

“Anakiwa is the best school of its type in the world," said an executive member of the Outward Bound Trust of New Zealand at a meeting of the provincial executive of North Canterbury Federated Farmers yesterday. Mr R. D. Andrew, the provincial executive’s representative on the trust board, said that there were 29 other similar schools in the world. The provincial executive decided to give $5O to the trust appeal this year and review the donation next year with a view to more donations.

The trust had decided to increase the accommodation at Anakiwa to 72 boys a course. This involved the extension of dormitory, toilet and washing facilities as well as new housing to accommodate extra staff. The board had considered it would cost $150,000 to improve the facilities, said Mr Andrew.
