Supermarket burgled

About $4OOO in cash and cheques was stolen from a safe at Dreaver’s Hornby Supermarket, 438 Main South Road, at the week-end.

The burglars forced their way into the shop from the rear. There • were no visible signs of entry into the safe. Included in the cash taken was one $lOO note, said the manager (Mr J. G. Dreaver). Mr Dreaver said he would like to hear from anyone who cashed cheques-at the shop after 3 p.m. on Friday. He said that the help of persons who had already approached him and had stopped cheques, in one case for $5O, was appreciated. Electrical equipment, sanders and tools worth a total of $614 were stolen from Ayers Panel Beaters, Ltd, 430 A Tuam Street, at the week-end.

Yesterday a casette tape recorder worth $llO was stolen from a house in Durham Street. Entry was made through an insecure window.
