RANDOM REMINDER
MARKET SURVEY
With the building industry experiencing its periodical vicissitudes there are those allied interests which suffer as a consequence. Take, for instance the plight of the painters, reliant as they are on the extent of building activities. And many are now finding that, because of the economic climate, home owners are temporarily postponing their renovation programme. But the men who wield the brushes and pour the turps could become busy almost overnight. That is, if some enterprising paint manufacturer saw fit to embark on a more colourful marketing modus operand! through the simple expedient of introducing new enticing shades of paint. It would
immediately fire the imagination of owners and occupants of commercial premises throughout the country and revitalise the painting profession. He could, as an example, interest Harbour Board officials in an appealing new shade for the ferry terminals— Tern Green. And how much more arresting looking C. 1.8. Headquarters would be if they scrapped their present colour scheme in favour of a new shade— French May Grey, for instance. And because there have been a few undiplomatic blues recently, the Australian Embassy could profit from a coat or two of Austral Azure. The possibilities are almost limitless if there
was standardisation. Restaurants could all be repainted in a shade such as Dun BroWn, fruit and vegetable shops in Suka Lemon and secondary school hostels newly annotated with several gallons of Tappie Ochre. Those who administer homes for the elderly would surely be interested in having their premises done over in a non-fading Ann Teak and clubs, more especially those patronised by the more affluent in our midst, in Silent Gold. And even for the headquarters of the Friends of South Africa things might not look so black if they had the building repainted with several coats of a different colour — Quite —All White, If they only had the Hart. ~ .
