$2000 for organ fund
A gift of $2OOO to the Town Hall organ fund was made yesterday by Mr and Mrs B. F. Bicknell, of Christchurch. Cr H. G. Hay, chairman of the Town Hall Committee, said he was delighted by the gift and the continued practical interest of Mr and Mrs Bicknell. He hoped that their desire to see a first-class organ in the Town Hall would soon be realised.
Mr Bicknell, a practising chartered accountant and amateur organ builder, had been actively interested in the provision of an organ and was convener of an organ sub-committee advising the Town Hall Committee on the type of organ most suitable for the building, Cr Hay said. Other gifts received for the organ fund in the last few days, he said, were: Mr and Mrs N. L. Macbeth $lOO, Mrs E. Hillary $2O, Miss G. Spriggs $2O, and Mrs H. R. Lake $2OO. Any gifts of $lOO or more would be permanently acknowledged by a name-plate on d seat in the Town Hall and gifts of $2 or more would be recorded in a Donors’ Book which would be 'displayed in the Hall, said Cr Hay. Gifts should be sent to the City Treasurer, P.O. Box 237,
