Office gutted

Fire gutted the office of Gold Star Motors, Ltd, at the comer of Tuam Street and Fitzgerald Avenue, just after midnight this morning.

Six late-model cars were also damaged by the fire, one of them severely. No estimate of damage was available early this morning. Flames were leaping from the single-storey building when two fire engines from the Central Station arrived. Several jets were used on the blaze which was soon brought under control. An adjacent concrete block building was not damaged. The damaged cars were parked in a yard in front of the building. The most severely damaged car was directly against the building and was burnt out. The cause of the fire is not yet known.
