ROYAL TOUR
Thais cheer visitors (N.Z.P A.-Reuter—Copy right? BANGKOK, Feb. 10. Thousands of cheering Thais, waving flags, lined the banks of King’s River today when the Queen arrived in Bangkok to begin her sixweek tour of South-East Asia and the Indian Ocean. Accompanied on the Royal yacht Britannia by the Duke of Edinburgh, Princess Anne and the British Foreign Secretary (Sir Alec DouglasHome), the Queen was escorted up the estuary by H.M.S. Cleopatra and H.M.S. Swan before she transferred to the Royal barge for her landing. H.M.S. Cleopatra fired a 21-gun salute opposite Chulachomklao Fort, the guns of which roared back a welcome.
At the pier, pretty Thai girls scattered blossoms in the path of the Royal party as King Phumibol Adulayej, Queen Sirikit and Princess Sirindhoru moved forward to greet the visitors.
