“Speculation” on shipping
(N.Z. Press Association)
WELLINGTON, December 30. A report that the Holm Shipping Company might lose some of its identity after the take-over of the Union Steam Ship Company ou January 1 was “pure and damaging speculation and contrary to all the information that has been available to us,” said a statement from the company tonight. The company’s managingdirector (Captain J. F. Holm) said that details of any reorganisation within the Union Company had not been worked out and would not be completed for some months.
“Expansion of. services has not only been considered by the new owners," he said, “but has been indicated by the Government, which has also stated that all services will be continued for at least 12 months after the take-over. “There is no doubt that there will be advantageous alterations and improved services and we believe these will be shared by our company and will be advantageous to all concerned,” Captain Holm said.
The Holm Company is a subsidiary of the Union Company.
