STRAIT SWIM TODAY

The Dunedin swimmer, Miss Beryl Boberg, is to make her attempt to become the first female to conquer Foveaux Strait, this morning. Miss Boberg has been in training for several months and the swim has been postponed for four weeks, waiting for the right conditions. She will be accompanied by three fishing boats, Enterprise, Christopher Grey and St Jude. The skipper of one of them said yesterday that there was a roll in the strait but that this had gone down during the day. Miss Boberg will also have the assistance of several surfers from Dunedin and Invercargill. The swim is expected to take about 12 hours.
