Power-boat races

Fiesta (P. Neil) and Palomine (C. Perham) each won two races when the New Brighton Power Boat Club held handicap events on the Estuary at Pleasant Point on Saturday. Ten runabouts and six A class boats raced on good water. W. L. Stokes made his first appearance in Voodoo IV, the big 120 m.p.h. hydro, but the fuel injection system was not working well, and Voodoo was behind Palomine in the only race it completed. Smokey (J. Thomson) was first home in one runabout event and second in two others. Other winners were Cameo (D. Foord), and Gay Erin (R. Sharpe).
