Brood mare top price
(N.Z.P.A.-Reuter —Copyright) NEWMARKET. A British record price for a brood mere was paid when the 1972 Tattersells December Bloodstock Soles opened on Mondoy. Basil Samuel, who owns a stud farm In Britain, paid 44,000 guineas ($115,920) for Romping, a flve-yaar-old daughter of Sir Gaylord, which Is the sire of the 1948 Epsom Derby winner Sir Ivor. The previous British record for a brood mare was 40,000 guineas ($100,600), paid for Voise de Vienna In the some sole ring four year* ago. The mare, which Is In foal to the Irish Dermy ar Doncaster St Leger winner Rlbero, was eno of a consignment of 12 lots submitted because of the death of the Amerlcon,' Charlo: Engelhard.
