Hombre fit for Rangiora

Hombre sprinted attractively In training at Riccarton yesterday to advance his claims for consideration In the North Canterbury Racing Club's Westport Handicap next week. Ridden by K. Hombre should be ready for one of his best runs at Rangiora. Most gallops were on the plough which, like the grass, gave fast footing. The stablemates, Elbaldo (M. Thornley) and RiboUta (R. Moir), kept up a strong pace to the end of seven furlongs on the plough, recording Imin 29 4-ssec, and 38 4-ssec for the final three. Swiss Knight (D. Sanderson) outsprlnted Foxtail (Thornley) and Tzlganl (G. Lee) over seven furlongs. They finished in that order at Intervals of two lengths and four lengths, with Swiss Knight finishing a good trial in Imin 29 3-ssec. The Pines (W. Beck) end Tudor Hall (I. Annlng) took Imin 35 4-ssec for seven furlongs, and 41sec for the final three. Time and Tide and Sudden Change foUowed in Imin 33 3-5-sec, the final three furlongs in 38sec. Time and Tide, a candidate for the North Canterbury club's Rangiora Handicap, was ridden by nis race rider, E. G. Low. ' Quetta (P. Thlstoll) and Awocato (R. McCann) recorded Imin 33 2-ssec for seven furlongs. They quickened to run the last three furlongs strongly In 36 4-ssec. Power, Officers’ Mess, and Guilty Party ran seven furlongs in Imin 32 2-ssec, the final three in 40 l-ssec. Donnybrook Fair (Sanderson) and Bun, Tuck (P. Smith) were on terms after running seven furlongs in Imin 34sec, the last three in 39 2-ssec. They are rivals for the second leg of the North Canterbury club’s T.A.B. double. Blmerah sprinted from the seven furlongs in Imin 29sec. Gracious Dream joined in going to the five furlongs and went a length clear in the straight to record 49 2-ssec for her last half mile, and 36sec for the final three furlongs. Jekover, Doresio, and Billy Bee ran seven furlongs in Imin 33 2-ssee, the final three in 41 1-5-sec. Baltic Blue (D. Reed) finished Ms work by running three furlongs In 41 3-ssec. He was an Impressive winner In maiden class at the New Zealand Cup meeting, and looks one of the brighter chances In the Carloton Hack Handicap at Rangiora next Tuesday.
