Pay increases approved

Pay increases for storemen, packers and warehousemen have been approved by the Remuneration Authority. The secretary of the Can-terbury-Westland Storemen’s, Packers’ and Warehousemen’s Union (Mr C. W. Keenan) said the new rate for an adult male was $5O a week, with a service allowance of $1 a week after 12 months with the same employer. The previous basic rate was $45.70.
